THE MOM MANIFESTO

To wake up every morning, determined to struggle well. Not to be the perfect mom, not to compare or compete with other moms, but to be the unique mom God intended for my unique child. To make every effort to be present and disconnect, discovering peace in the tension of rest and effort, healthy rhythms of pouring out and filling up.To accept personal limitations and help from others — without hesitation or pride. To remove all the guilt, understanding that motherhood is not a one-size-fits all job description. It requires a daily dependence on God’s guidance and provision. He refines us for the task with tender grace. To give grace, not only to my children, but to myself. To be intentional, bringing the bigger parenting vision into the smaller moments, because how we spend our minutes becomes how we spend our life.To be flexible, allowing for daily interruptions, a little bit of mess and a whole lot of sacrifice. To be overwhelmed, not only with this seemingly impossible gift and our imperfections, but with the unconditional love that Jesus has for us in the process. To find “time” as the one of our greatest resources, always looking to invest in the important over the urgent. To love unconditionally, forgive willingly and live joyfully. To wake up each morning with fresh mercy to give and to receive. To realize that we will sometimes get it wrong, often get it right, but through it all, his grace is sufficient and his strength is made perfect in weakness. To make it our aim, that on our dying day, we will finish the race completely worn and out of breath, a legacy left and a life well-spent.
